No compromise on Pak’s nuclear program: FO

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office Spokesperson Tehmina Janjua has said Pakistan is a responsible nuclear weapon state having effective command and control system under the command of Prime Minister and that there would be no compromise over Pakistan’s nuclear program, Geo News reported.

Commenting on the remarks of the former Foreign Minister regarding Pakistan’s nuclear program‚ she said the President after implementation of 18th amendment has nothing to do with this program and the National Command Authority under the Chairmanship of the Prime Minister takes all relevant decisions. She said the insinuations made against the President are baseless.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday alleged that Pakistan's atomic program is not safe in the presence of Zardari as president.

The Spokesperson said the National Command Authority meets frequently to review all matters relating to strategic programs and provide direction for upgrading of our strategic program to suit Pakistan’s defence requirements.

She said our policy of maintaining credible minimum deterrence will be maintained. Under no circumstances can this national program‚ which is integral to Pakistan’s defence‚ be compromised.

The Government‚ the Armed Forces and above all the people of Pakistan are absolutely committed to this objective.
