Three terrorists, 2 cops killed in Karachi blast

KARACHI: Three alleged terrorists including a woman were killed while two policemen were martyred when a vehicle blew up with a powerful blast in the Defence area on Wednesday, Geo News reported.
According to police, a suspicious vehicle (Suzuki Bolan) in which the alleged terrorists were traveling was chased by two policemen.
On seeing the police approaching, the terrorists detonated the explosives, blowing up the vehicle.
All three terrorists were killed while two policemen, Maula Baksh and Muhammad Safeer who chased the vehicle were killed, police said.
Five Kalashnikovs and rifles were recovered from the scattered debris of the vehicle that was completely destroyed in the blast.
The law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area while rescue and emergency response teams reached the site of the incident.
Earlier, Sindh Home Minister Mazoor Wasan announced Rs2 million in compensation for the family of one martyred policeman and employment for his son in the police force Wasan praised the bravery of the policemen as their efforts to thwart the terrorists led to a major tragedy being avoided.
