Atif Aslam

Atif Aslam : (Urdu: عاطف اسلم‎; born in Wazirabad, Gujranwala DistrictPunjabPakistan as Muhammad Atif Aslam) is a Pakistani pop singer and film actor. His debut as an actor was in the 2011 film Pakistani movie Bol. He has generated numerous chart-topping songs, and is known for his vocal belting technique. Atif is a recipient of the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan's highest civilian decorations. He was also awarded with the BrandLaureate International Brand Personality Award in Malaysia for his positive contributions towards society.

Early life 
                                  Atif was born into a Muslim family in Wazirabad, of Gujranwala DistrictPunjab, in Pakistan and educated in Lahore & Rawalpindi. Atif went to kindergarten at Kimberley Hall School, Lahore. In 1991 he moved to Rawalpindi where he continued his studies in St Paul's School. Atif came back to Lahore in 1995 where he continued his studies in Divisional Public School, Lahore. He started his FSC in PAF Inter College Lahore.He obtained his Bachelors in Computer Science(honors) from the University of Central Punjab in 2004.


Debut : On 17 July 2004 the first album titled Jal Pari. of Atif Aslam was released. On the outset, the album stood on the success of “Aadat” but as the weeks progressed; it was made clear to everyone that Atif wasn’t merely a one hit wonder. The album featured various smash hit tracks such as “Bheegi Yaadein”, “Ehsaas”, “Mahi Ve”, “Ankhon Sey” along with the title track “Jalpari”. Atif came up with his own sound. His unique vocal capabilities and powerful renditions elevated him to stardom within weeks. The album had become the youth anthem of Pakistan.


Atif never came from a family of musicians nor was he musically trained, but he used all these factors to his advantage. All he had was raw talent and the passion to be a musician. He was courageous enough to sing in his own style without giving an ear to his detractors. Many believe that the courage and passion he displayed in his first album became the foundation of his success. As Atif rode on the success of Jal Pari, he developed rapidly as an exiting concert artist and soon also proved that he was an electrifying performer through his concerts, which grew in demand across the subcontinent.
People were amazed to experience the kind of voice quality Atif was able to deliver in a live performance. His energy on stage, his charisma, his ability to work the crowd and his vocals made him the most sought after live performer in Pakistan and numerous countries across Asia. The artist started performing to sellout crowds on a regular basis. The energy level never reduced but the crowd kept on increasing. He has always admired Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Abida Parveen.

Concerts & Tours 

                                                             His first stage performance was in a fancy dress show at his school where he performed as Imran Khan, the former captain of Pakistan national cricket team. Atif's collaborative performances include his tour of USA and Canada with RDB and Annie. Atif did his debut concert in New Jersey in Summer Beats 2008 that also featured Kailash Kher, Richa Sharma & Amanat Ali with 40 musicians and dancers at Sovereign Bank Arena NJ. After a sold out concert in New Jersey, Atif returned with his band and special guests to Queens Colden Center, New York after 6 years with same promoters to perform on July 2, 2010 with special attention to Sound, Light and the whole production to give the audience a memorable experience.

North America saw Aslam & Shreya Ghoshal on their March, 2010 Tour of 10 shows in USA and Canada which got a huge success & inspired the organizers to conduct shows again in six more cities. Same year in April, Atif was also seen at Anthony Nesty Sports Hall, Suriname in South America.
Aslam also performed with Sunidhi Chauhan for the first time at Hershey Centre, Mississauga followed by another show at Oracle Arena, San Francisco, Oakland in July 2011 during their USA & Canada tour. The Pakistani superstar was also nominated as a Finalist for the MTV Iggy's Best New Band in the World contest in 2011. During 2012,he became the first Pakistani and South Asian musician to perform at the O2 Arena,the second-largest arena in the UK.

Hollywood

Atif has three songs featured in a Hollywood movie, Man Push Cart which has won several international awards and was praised by critics. His two more songs "Doorie" and "Maula" from his second album Doorie have been picked up in 2010 for the soundtrack of the Hindi Version of a Mexican film La mujer de mi hermano directed by Ricardo de Montreui

Acting career : Atif made his acting debut in the 2011 Pakistani movie Bol. Despite making special appearances in songs sung by himself, Atif's music was featured in Bollywood films Bas Ek Pal, Race,Prince, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and Race 2. Atif will also be seen in an special appearance in Jayanta Bhai Ki Luv Story.

Television : Atif also appeared as a captain of Team Pakistan in a singing talent show called Sur Kshetra which was shot & telecast from Dubai where Indian & Pakistani contestants were competing against each other.
